After years in my garage gym and loving it, I've been looking for a solid leg combo machine - anything for extra ease and volume to unload my spine from heavy squats and easy frequency - to which I seem more responsive and getting older.

I found Maxum a few months ago after dropping all American brands - when I found the LEC2 it was a bit "too good to be true" - originally wanting a Prime plate loaded machine after trying it in a gym - How could I say no at 1/3 the price?

In May of 2025 I then went forward and bought the Maxum LEC2. Ordering was a breeze and delivery quick - bought on the weekend delivered the next Friday. The delivery guy was an absolute champion and able to drop the crate directly in front of my garage - crate is massive and you will definitely get a workout unboxing the machine - which is great.

Alone - It took me ~2 hours to get everything out of the box, unwrapped and ready for install - It then was ~2 hours to put the machine together and what a machine.

For reference I'm 6.2 ~205 pounds - Machine feels solid, well built and works perfectly for my height and my daughter's 5.8 - I wouldn't hesitate a second to put this equipment in a commercial gym - There's enough weight on the stack for a great workout and put some serious volume/frequency simply - I used to be one of these cable setup guys for leg volume workouts but no more as owning this machine is instant gratification.

Of course I can't speak for ultimate longevity as the unit is new and just used at this point but it sure does look legit and feels solid. Yesterday I did multiple reps with around 150 pounds and it felt great.

All this to say I - do not hesitate to order the LEC2 machine and don't wait for other brands promises that just don't deliver - it's competitive and very well built and couldn't really ask for more at this price point - no need to go more expensive as it would be a "waste" of money imho - I've been navigating high end gyms for more than 30 years - this machine has nothing to fear from the competition...

Big shout out to S****** D***** review on the maxum site - totally right about the tools list and the 2X4 to support the feet of the seat while installing to frame. If I can add to it - here are a few of my OCD notes on the setup...

    - Crate is significant - drop it into a open space to easily work and spread things around
    - If you need to move things somewhere else - this is the time - don't build and move - move and built is much smarter
    - Except for the main frame - most components can be moved by one person - I just left everything in my garage
    - Don't use a knife/Cutter to unwrap - just go for a very good pair of scissors to prepare everything
    - All screws are already on the chassis and components - no need to overthink things - just look, think and screw.
    - After seat install - when mounting the leg arm to the chassis - unscrew 2 little allen cylinders on the end of the shaft going in.
    - You'll then be able to angle the arm in screw things and then secure allen cylinders back in place on the shaft
    - Moving the arm is possible alone - I did but I feel a second person would have helped a little.
    - When it comes time for the stack - put the 2 black bushings at the bottom of the frame - they're in the plastic bag found in the crate.
    - Once cleaned and sprayed - angle each weight rods in and slowly stack the weights one by one.
    - You will find references on the web - the LEC2 machine is very similar to other companies on the web...
    - Perfect footprint - takes little space compared to a hack squat or leg press machines or combo's.
    - To move the machine around I use my motorcycle trolly - very handy in similar situations if anyone asks.
    - Feels solid - Well built - Fit&finish is 100% legit
    - Cushions are great and exactly what I was expecting.
    - Nothing was damaged during shipping and packaging was elite and well prepared by the team at Maxum.
    - Assembly documents could be much better - but hey - see this as a lego set so take your time and have fun - it's all good
    - Maxum flag found in the bag is a nice addition - Show your colors!

Cheers to all the gang at maxum - solid performance - this is definitely not my last purchase.

Overall great leg extension and leg curl machine with an incredible 264lbs resistance. Lots of adjustments. Seat back moves back and forth. Multiple positions for curls and extension starting positions. Can't find a thing near it until you get to double the price.

Realtivly smooth cable function though I do sense some rubbing at a specific spot. Not sure if I need to reposition the weight stack a bit as maybe the middle cylinder is rubbing against some of the bottom weight plates.

Seat came with an indentation from shipping. Doesn't impact function but my OCD kicks in when I see it.

    Pros:
    Tons of adjustments
    Thick cushioning
    Well made, solid machine
    264lbs of resistance
Combo leg extension and seated leg curl
    Price

    Cons:
Not the smoothest of cabling route
No setup manual (but relatively simple)
Roller I find too thick at times
    Packaging was painful to remove
Definitely a two or three person job to get into house and up or down stairs

Tools I used to set it up:
    17mm ratchet
    Adjustable wrench
    6mm Allen key
Rubber mallet (to get main cylinder in)
Small piece of 2x4 (to rest machine on while installing seat)
Needle nose pliers (a pin needed to be adjusted as it came a bit bent)
Automotive grease to grease the main cylinders, helps with installation and presumably less friction/wear and tear
